ロボット革命＆産業IoTイニシアチブ（RRI）は、CESMII（Collaborative Ecosystems for Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute, 米国）およびPlattform Industrie 4.0（ドイツ）と共同で、産業の持続可能性の将来に関する共同ディスカッションペーパーを発表しました。
製造業は、自然災害の激化や地政学的リスクの高まりなど、ますます厳しい環境に直面しています。さらに、優秀な人材の確保は製造業の事業継続にとって長年の最重要課題であり、生成型AIや自動化設備の業務適用に向けた取り組みは、人材確保のボトルネックとなっています。こうした労働力や地球環境といった課題に対し、日米欧の専門家は1年半にわたり、製造業の持続可能性について議論を重ねてきました。そして今、国際連携によって取り組むべき課題を明確化し、解決策をまとめたディスカッション・ペーパーを公表しました。
プロジェクトリーダーである日立製作所の野中洋一氏は、次のように述べています。
「パンデミックとエネルギー危機は、日本、米国、欧州における社会の価値観、働き方、そして経済の優先順位を大きく変えました。こうした変化の中で、デジタル化が成長の原動力として台頭し、各地域の専門家は再び集結してその影響を再評価するとともに、国際協力を要する課題を特定しました。その過程では、率直な対話と相互の政策評価を通じて共通の理解を築き、将来の協力基盤を着実に強化してきました。本稿が、よりレジリエントで持続可能な産業の未来構築に向けた一助となることを期待しています。」
米国、CESMII CEOのJohn Dyck 氏は次のように述べています。

The Robot Revolution & Industrial IoT Initiative (RRI), in collaboration with CESMII (Collaborative Ecosystems for Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute, USA) and Plattform Industrie 4.0 (Germany), has published a joint discussion paper addressing the future of industrial sustainability.
The manufacturing industry is facing an increasingly challenging environment, with intensifying natural disasters, growing geopolitical risks, and other challenges. Furthermore, securing talented personnel has long been a top priority for the manufacturing industry’s business continuity, and efforts to apply generative AI and automated equipment to business operations have presented a talent bottleneck.
Against these labor and global environmental challenges, experts from Japan, the United States, and Europe have been discussing the sustainability of the manufacturing industry for one and a half years. Finally, we have published a discussion paper defining the issues that need to be addressed through international collaboration and outlining solutions.
Project lead Dr. Nonaka of Hitachi Ltd. commented:
“The pandemic and energy crisis have reshaped societal values, work styles, and economic priorities across Japan, the U.S., and Europe. As digitalization emerges as a key growth driver, experts from these regions have reconvened to reassess its impact and identify challenges requiring global collaboration.
